I feel like I've been slacking...

O hello there! I haven't been a very good steward of this site for like, I don't know, 8 months but... I am back for the time being!

Apparently in college it isn't super easy to make good grades, compete on an athletic team, be involved in school activities AND stay updated on your blog... weird.

Well, to keep all of my 5 readers updated on my life, I am back in beautiful Florida, and survived hurricane Isaac...thank goodness.

My summer was unusual- I had hip surgery and spent a good month doped up on meds and wearing support stocking.  honestly, i was looking gooooood.

it is almost unfair how attractive I was
After I could finally walk around we took a family vaca to the Grand Canyon...  We were your typical tourists venturing around, filing in and out of a big sight seeing bus, and taking pictures of everything...still angry I forgot to bring my fanny pack.
my mom was not impressed by the grand canyon,
don't let the smile fool you
Overall it was a pretty good summer...lots and lots of family time..but very much needed and appreciated!

Here's to hoping I can keep this site updated all semester...how lucky you would be?!

Maybe you didn't need a side of butter with that, Paula...

Well in recent news, Paula Deen has been diagnosed with diabetes. Which leads us to ask the question, "did you really need all that butter on the cookies you put on top of the pot pie as the side dish to your turducken?!"

no, no you did not.

how many sticks of butter can you spot?

Now make no mistake, I love sweets, fats, and butter as much as the next person but in a moderate amount.  But when you are known for saying you need more "butta,"  diabetes really can't be that big of a surprise.

Maybe everyone is blown away by the fact that she has known about being a diabetic for a few years and has continued to sell, cook, and consume grandiose amounts of saturated fats.

o well, you can only live once... although Paula's might be cut short...

So yes, the mighty lady of the south, master of butter, and silver-haired magistrate of the culinary world has diabetes.  And I would bet that Guy, Rachel, and the Neely's aren't too far away either.

Lesson here is that you probably should have a little butter on your bread and not a little bread with your butter.  Fruits should be part of your diet.  And veggies soaked in oil and fats doesn't count as healthy.

But you know what?  That lady can cook!  And she has an incredibly personable southern accent to go with it.

love eating at Paula's The Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah!

So cheers to you, Paula!  May you control your diabetes, and maybe lighten up on the butter...
